Abstract

The objective of this research is to analyze the performance of three distinct room acoustics simulation software, two of them developed in the academic realm (one from Brazil) and one comercial software. The algorithms at hand are based in geometrics acoustics, but with different implementation. The simulated room was adopted at the last international inter-comparison on room acoustical simulation and auralization (Round Robin), the carefully measured geometric and acoustic data was supplied by the organization body. Four acoustic parameters were analyzed (T30, EDT, C80 and D50), for ten source-receiver pairs in octave bands from 125 Hz to 8 KHz. The relative mean errors, to the just noticeable difference, are also computed. The main findings are that there are deviations, relative to the measured results, in all software with some of the parameters better evaluated than others. Preliminary insights about the advantages and limitations of each algorithm are presented, as well as an analysis of the quadratic impulse responses that show the distribution of energy decay in the room provided by each simulator.
