Changes in the theatrical and performance scene, in terms of the mode of representation, stimulate the emergence of new configurations of the theatrical building. If, on the one hand, the physical space is transformed to accompany the evolution of scenic art, on the other hand, the emergence of new materials and construction techniques offers the architect the possibility to incorporate plastic and formal innovations into the design of the theatrical building. The so-called “Multiconfiguration Rooms”, which include different stage-audience spatial arrangements, have gained prominence in recent decades. This flexibility, much appreciated by directors, represents a challenge for acoustic design. This article investigates the variation of acoustic parameters for a small room, with capacity for about 200 people, due to changes in the typology (Italian, arena and walkway) of the space, and in the relationship of source-receivers positioning in each typology. The BRASS (Brazilian Room Acoustic Simulator) software was used to calculate the parameters T60, EDT, C80 and D50. Research shows that dimensions, surface absorption levels and placement of ceiling reflectors are most applicable to the theater room. The simulation results indicate the acceptable levels of the analyzed acoustic parameters, in each layout.
