Abstract

The bus corridors of public transport systems are important urban equipment and are home to numerous users. These are exposed to intense noise levels, being poorly evaluated in research. With the growth of noise pollution in an urban environment, predictive methods have been developed as an environmental assessment tool. That said, the objective of this research is the development of a mathematical model of noise prediction in bus corridors, based on direct paths and specular and diffuse reflections, in which it seeks to contribute to the characterization of the noise level of vehicular traffic that reaches users of public transport systems. For the application of the model, a stretch was chosen on Avenue Morangueira, located in the city of Maringá - PR. The section has 300 meters long and 100 meters wide. The avenue is a municipal bus corridor, which consists of six lanes, two exclusives to the bus. In the model, two scenarios were simulated, one for the standing user and the other for the seated user. The sound source was positioned on the axis of each strip, in total, 2196 of the source positions and 10980 paths were calculated. To validate the developed model, the models by Kurze and Anderson, Kang Yang and Zhang were applied, and, subsequently, the t-Student test. The results of the model showed correspondence between the developed model and the data of the measurements in loco and the reference models. It is concluded, based on the results, that the similarity is greater than 95% and that the proposed methodology can contribute to future research in the sense of representation and option of modeling and simulation for the evaluation of noise in bus stops.
