Professional musicians often face problems with the space in which they perform. In the case of the string quartet, a very traditional and sophisticated formation since Haydn, the concerns are mainly in the sense of: whether the acoustic environment is very reverberant or tending more towards an anechoic chambre. Extremes are always unpleasant, both for those who play music and for paying listeners, who do not understand the frustrating feeling of not understanding the message of the composer and that of the performers. Who pays for tickets deserves respect and sound quality. There are musicians who do not care about the musical space in which they work and then do not understand why they fail in the profession. Putting people in an unsuitable room to hear rubbed strings, such as the string quartet, can be disappointing and exhausting. Some well-known concert halls have poor acoustics. There are then some essential factors for the success of the hearings. The acoustic evaluation of the room can be done through objective parameters (measurable by means of devices or by simulations) and subjective (evaluation made by perception tests). The main parameters are the reverberation time, the clarity (related to the definition), the sound strength and the bass and treble ratio. The subjective parameters related to these objective parameters are, respectively: reverberation, clarity, subjective sound level and room tone or balance. Subjective evaluation can be done on site or through auralization, simulating the position of the listener. We used the auralization feature and analyzed two rooms with the use of two rubbed cordophones, the violin and the viola. We saw that with a few modifications the spaces could become more suitable for use in string quartet presentations.
